Hottest Auctions of the Week (June 1-7)
Vintage stole the week. A $579K 1st Edition Charizard leads the graded Top 5, with a $415K Typhlosion and surging Japanese sealed right behind.
By Chase Society Desk
This past week delivered some genuinely staggering numbers. Whether you chase vintage grails, trophy cards, or just love watching where the market is headed, there is a lot to unpack.
Let's take a look at the hottest Pokemon sales of the week:
Vintage absolutely stole the show this week.
A $579,000 PSA 10 1st Edition Charizard would normally be the only number this big.. but somehow it wasn't the only auction that jumped this high.
We also saw a PSA 10 Secret Super Battle Trainer sell for nearly $467,000, while a PSA 10 1st Edition Typhlosion shocked the hobby with an incredible $415,500 result.
Honestly, the Typhlosion might be the sale that surprised us the most. It's a reminder that when ultra low population vintage cards in elite condition hit the market, collectors are willing to pay up in a big way if they don't know when the next one will come.
On the sealed side, Japanese products continued to attract serious attention. The 2013 Pokemon Center 15th Anniversary Premium Set Box led the way at $31,300, while a Plasma Storm ETB was right behind it at $25,010.
We also spotted an Evolving Skies Booster Box Case sell for over $19,000. For context, loose Evolving Skies booster boxes are currently selling for around $2,700 each, meaning buyers are still willing to pay a meaningful premium for sealed cases. There's clearly something about untouched, case fresh product that collectors continue to value far past their inherent value.
The biggest thing that stood out to us? High end buyers aren't slowing down.
Whether it's trophy cards, low pop PSA 10s, or iconic sealed products, the strongest pieces in the hobby continue to command incredible prices even as the broader market hits a bit of a lull. Right now, it definitely feels like vintage, especially 1st Edition vintage, has the hobby's full attention.
We'll keep watching the top of the market closely.
